Irene Serra

Born in Milan,Italy Irene moved to Denmark at the age of 3. From a very young age she developed her love for singing whilst performing in choirs, musicals and churches. Her very first professional engagement was as the lead singer of the Unicef chior in Copenhagen at the age of nine. After moving back to Milan she started studying Jazz at the age of 16 with the renowned Italian Jazz singer Tiziana Ghiglioni at the Academy of Music in Milan. She moved to London in 1999 to complete a BA in Performing Arts at the University of Surrey. She afterwards went on to study music at Goldsmiths College. She currently holds a Grade 8 voice in Classical Music and is studying towards a Masters in Music Performance at the Guildhall School Of Music and Drama. She has performed various styles of music ranging from jazz, blues, bossanova, gospel and soul in venues in and around London such as the 606 Jazz Club, the Spice Of Life, Ray's Jazz Cafe', Theatre Royal Stratford East and the Djanogly Pitch at the National Theatre. She was one of the semi-finalists in The Brussels International Young Jazz Singer in 2008 and was a finalist at the Shure Montreux Jazz Competition 2009 Irene has also worked as a session singer and vocalist in Ibiza, Italy and the UK.
